Topkit collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no way to reach the internet.

What Topkit collects

Nothing. There is no account and no sign-in. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no cookies. There is no Topkit server, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent.

Why that is verifiable

Topkit runs in the macOS App Sandbox and ships without any network entitlement. Neither com.apple.security.network.client nor com.apple.security.network.server is present in the app. macOS blocks outbound connections for an app without them, so this is enforced by the operating system rather than promised by us.

What stays on your Mac

Clipboard history. The text and images you copy are stored inside the app's sandbox container, under ~/Library/Containers/com.topkit.app. They are encrypted at rest with AES-GCM. The encryption key lives in your Keychain, is scoped to that device and is never synced to iCloud. You can clear the history whenever you like, set it to clear itself on a schedule, or export it yourself.

Topkit does not record passwords or other concealed copies. When an app marks a copy as concealed (the standard org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType used by 1Password, Bitwarden, and others), Topkit ignores it. Transient and auto-generated pasteboard writes are ignored too.

Screenshots and recordings. Saved to the folder you choose, or placed on your clipboard. Topkit does not copy them anywhere else.

Subtitles. When you turn on live subtitles for a recording, speech is transcribed on your Mac using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Topkit requires on-device recognition and will not run subtitles if your Mac cannot do it locally. Audio and transcripts never leave the machine.

Preferences. Stored in macOS user defaults inside the same sandbox container.

Permissions

Each one is requested only when you first use the feature that needs it. macOS controls all of them, and you can revoke any of them at any time in System Settings.

Third parties

None. Topkit contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics libraries and no advertising frameworks. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is collected in the first place.

Children

Topkit is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
